Press Release

"PANTSABLAZIN!" RAGES ITS WAY THROUGH NORTHERN CALIFORNIA!

Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theater presents the annual student touring show, "PANTSABLAZIN!" created and performed by the class of 2001 under the direction of Daniel Stein and Michael Fields, at the _____ on _____ at _____.  "PANTSABLAZIN!," a family-oriented extravaganza in the style and form of classic vaudeville, features the students in their final self-generated production of the year.

Working under the loose theme of Truth and Lies, PANTSABLAZIN! is a modernization of the classic variety-act style customary in turn of the century vaudeville. Come and witness The Austrian Woodchoppers perform marvelous acrobatic feats, Pellegrina Leoni and her mystical dancing bear foretell your future, Specific Lumber Company present an "eco-friendly" public service announcement, Prof. Spivins enlighten you on the medicinal breakthroughs of his Patented Miracle Restorative Energizing Cruelty-Free Cure-All Health Tonic Elixir, and many other outrageous and daring acts of entertainment.

The students of Dell’Arte bring to this production a cornucopia of talents, experience, and perspectives. They have converged from around the globe, hailing from such diverse locations as Hungary, Denmark, Puerto Rico and the entirety of the United States. Their performance backgrounds are as diverse as their geography; the class consists of professional jugglers, children’s entertainers, career street performers, dancers, singers, acrobats, puppeteers, and actors of the "legitimate" stage. The students have been working together for the last eight months (sixty hours a week at least!) learning the enigmatic art of working as an ensemble and taking on the demanding challenge of becoming an actor-creator. They have traveled to Dell’Arte, the American center for the study of physical theater, in Blue Lake, California, to immerse themselves in the classic theatrical forms of Melodrama, Commedia dell’Arte, and Clown in order to bring these essential and endangered forms new life for the modern stage. Having now acquired the skills necessary for prolific generation of new performance material, their farewell touring performance showcases the abilities they have honed all year.

Performances are free for the public with donations gladly accepted. For more information, contact Dell’Arte at 668-5663.
