2013 Greenbelt Labor Day Festival Parade
Winner: Most Humorous
Official Press Release
Rain Barrel Flyer

GPP&PS promotes on-site storage of precipitation in rain barrels. Water stored in your rain barrel is water that won’t run off into our streams. Instead, as you use the stored rainwater around the home and garden, it will absorb slowly into the ground replenishing groundwater supplies. By decreasing the storm runoff, rain barrels help moderate erosion and the reduce pollution in our lakes, rivers, and the Chesapeake Bay.

To support their environmental benefits, Prince George’s County has a Rebate Program that provides $50–$100 to install rain barrels storing 100 gallons or more, or $1,200–$2,500 for a rain garden.

Greenbelt Homes Inc. (GHI) has a Rain Barrel Purchase Program buying in bulk for lower prices.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a Rain Barrel Website and Rain Barrel Video.
